University of Life Sciences in Lublin

The traditions of the University of Life Sciences go back to 1944, when four faculties were established as part of the newly created Maria Curie-Skłodowska University ? Medicine, Life Sciences, Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine ? and in 1953 the next four: Zootechnics, Animal Sciences, Faculty of Biology and Bioeconomy.

During the decades of operation of the faculties, researchers have expanded the spectrum of their research from the sciences of farm animals, free-living and companion animals, to research related to food production and human nutrition as well as basic sciences ? biology.

Scientific research conducted in the laboratories of the University of Life Sciences constitutes a valuable contribution to the development of the agricultural, zootechnical and veterinary sciences. This is evidenced by the large number of scientific publications and many patents.

University of Wroclaw

The Faculty of Biotechnology of the University of Wrocław ? with traditions dating back to 1959 ? is one of the oldest and best functioning biotechnology departments in Poland. In 2013, it received the prestigious A + category awarded by the Committee for for the Evaluation of Scientific Departments. This is the highest rating that a research institution in Poland can obtain.

The Faculty is the leader of the Wrocław Biotechnology Center, which includes eight renowned research teams. In 2014, the consortium obtained the status of a leading national research center for 2014-2018, thus gaining access to significant funds for development and research. It is the best-financed research unit in its category, currently implementing 57 research projects with grants awarded by the National Science Center.

It cooperates with many research centers in Poland and abroad, and in recent years with an increasing number of companies from the biotechnology industry. The Faculty is also the publisher of the international journal ‘Cellular and Molecular Biology Letters’ (CMBL).

University staff conduct basic and applied research in collaboration with industrial partners in the fields of biotechnology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, microbiology, immunology, virology, as well as cell biology and plant physiology.

University of Pavia

The history of the University of Pavia dates back to 1361 and it is one of the oldest universities in Europe. The University of Pavia is located 30 km south of Milan. Currently the university has nine faculties: Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Technical Sciences, Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Physics, Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Faculty of Medical Sciences, Faculty of Musicology, Faculty of Pharmacy, and Faculty of Political Sciences. The University of Pavia is in the TOP 10 of Italian universities and TOP 300 in the world ranking.

The university places a strong emphasis on international cooperation. Since 1987, the university has been developing the CICOPS program promoting cooperation with universities around the world.

Many outstanding scientists, such as Alesandro Volta and Camillo Golgi, were associated with the university.

University of Life Sciences in Wroclaw

The University of Life Sciences in Wrocław is one of the best specialized universities in the country. It conducts education and research in agricultural, science and natural science as well as engineering and technical fields. In the field of research and employment of scientists, it follows the HR Logo standards, and in its teaching, it takes care of education in accordance with current labor markets.

For several years, the university has been listed at the international level in the Shanghai Ranking in the category of university terms in the world: Food Science & Technology, Veterinary Science and Chemical Engineering. Veterinary and Food Science have once again been nominated as the best fields of study in Poland in the ranking of ?Perspektywy?.

In the latest evaluation, the center received two outstanding A + ratings ? for the Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Sciences and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, which can also boast a positive assessment of the European Association of Veterinary Medicine Faculties (EAEVE).

These and other achievements made UPWr one of the 20 best universities in Poland that entered the competition for the title of a research university, thanks to which in the years 2004-2010 it received an increased subsidy for the development of research potential.

InventionBio × BHUMI – a biotechnology partnership for soil regeneration

Interested in becoming a demo farm or distributor?

Get in touch with our R&D team: rd@inventionbio.pl. Let’s restore the earth’s natural fertility together!

We have entered into a strategic collaboration with BHUMI, a Warsaw-based spin-off of the University of Warsaw that specialises in advanced soil-renewal technologies and biotechnology process optimisation (bhumi.pl). By merging our competencies, we close material loops between the feed and agricultural sectors and create tangible value for both the environment and farmers.

Why BHUMI?

BHUMI offers proprietary multi-strain microbial consortia and ready-to-use solutions for agriculture and industry (soil bio-preparations, bioremediation) that perfectly complement InventionBio’s capabilities. Its academic-to-market transfer model aligns with our open-innovation mindset.

What are we doing together?

  1. Upcycling post-fermentation fractions – valuable substances from our zero-waste biorefinery (bioactive peptides, fibre, organic acids) become carriers and feedstock for BHUMI strains.
  2. Next-gen biofertilisers – we are co-developing innovative products (granular biofertilisers and biostimulants) and validating them under commercial farm conditions.
  3. Breakthrough R&D projects – the partners are pursuing disruptive research projects funded by national and EU programmes.

Tangible benefits

  • Circular economy – 100 % of side streams are valorised into high-value materials.
  • Lower carbon footprint – reduced CO₂ and N₂O emissions thanks to decreased synthetic-fertiliser use.
  • Soil regeneration – improved microbial diversity and cation-exchange capacity translate into better nutrient efficiency and plant resilience.
  • Regenerative & organic farming – our bio-inputs comply with organic standards and accelerate the shift towards regenerative agriculture.
  • Synergistic next-generation formulations – bioactive compounds combined with living microbes deliver multi-layer benefits, from soil revitalisation to enhanced crop immunity.
